MLS: Portland Timbers sign Evander from FC Midtjylland

The Portland Timbers have signed midfielder Evander from Danish club FC Midtjylland, the club announced on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Brazilian joins the Timbers on a three-and-a-half-year contract with an option for an additional year.

Evander is a versatile midfielder who can play as a No. 10, a winger, or a central midfielder. He is known for his creativity, passing ability, and goal-scoring threat.

Evander began his career with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama before moving to FC Midtjylland in 2018. He has made over 100 appearances for the Danish club, scoring 20 goals and providing 25 assists.

Evander has also represented Brazil at the U-20 level. He was a member of the Brazil squad that won the 2015 U-20 World Cup.

The Timbers are hoping that Evander can help them improve their attacking play. The club has struggled to score goals in recent seasons, and Evander's creativity and goal-scoring ability could be a valuable asset.

Evander is the Timbers' second signing of the offseason. The club previously signed defender Claudio Bravo from FC Cincinnati.

The Timbers will open the 2023 MLS season on February 25th at home against LAFC.
