Biden Calls for End to Israel-Gaza War, Rules Out Occupation

Biden: Israel must not occupy Gaza after war

US President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the Israel-Gaza war must end now and Israel must not occupy the enclave after the war.

Biden spoke to reporters at the White House after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said that the United States is committed to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and that the war in Gaza is "not in anyone's interest."

"The United States has been working tirelessly to bring about a ceasefire and to end the violence in Gaza," Biden said. "We believe that it is essential for the Israelis and the Palestinians to return to the negotiating table and to work towards a lasting peace."

Biden's comments came as the death toll in Gaza rose to over 200, including dozens of children. The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire, and the United States has urged both sides to end the violence.
