Alexander Zverev Wins First Wimbledon Match, Advances to Second Round

Zverev makes quick work of Carballes Baena in straight sets.

German star Alexander Zverev has advanced to the second round of the 2024 Wimbledon tournament with a convincing win against Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena.

Zverev, who is seeded fourth in the tournament, won the match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. He broke Carballes Baena's serve three times in the match and never faced a break point of his own.

Zverev's win is a good start to his Wimbledon campaign. He is one of the favorites to win the tournament, and he will be looking to add to his two Grand Slam titles.

Zverev will face either Daniil Medvedev or Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round.
