Netflix Japan revealed the main Japanese cast and a teaser featuring their voice acting for LeSean Thomas' Yasuke anime on Wednesday. The anime will premiere worldwide on Netflix in April 2021, and will have 24 episodes.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Takehiro Hira as Yasuke
- Maya Tanida as Natsumaru
- Minami Tsuda as Saki
- Koichi Yamadera as Nobunaga Oda
- Mugihito as Abraham
- Karin Nanami as Ichika
- Shigeru Chiba as Dōkan
- Kanehira Yamamoto as Morisuke
- Fumi Kikuchi as Nikita
- Yūichi Nakamura as Achoja
- Hiroki Nanami as Ama
Lakeith Stanfield will voice the titular character in the English dub.
Thomas (Cannon Busters, The Boondocks) is directing the anime at MAPPA, and is also serving as chief director and producer.
The anime's story is set in a war-torn feudal Japan filled with mechs and magic, where a ronin named Yasuke struggles to maintain a peaceful existence after a past life of violence. But when a local village becomes the center of social unrest, Yasuke must take up his sword and protect the people he cares about against those who threaten to destroy their way of life.

The anime will feature an opening theme song by Flying Lotus and an ending theme song by Thundercat.
